A thought on competition

I've always thought it's interesting how competitive people can get about silly things. One of the times I notice it the most is when I'm driving down the interstate. Why is it that when you pass someone who is going slower than you they speed up to keep up with you or try to get past you. They were fine until you tried to pass them. I think that at some deep down level people are competitive and want to be first when they aren't thinking about it. Personally when I'm traveling I like to just set a speed and cruise and kind of drive in a leisurely manner. But just because you're not being competitive that doesn't mean other people aren't being competitive, which means they might be riding your ass even though you're just cruising.
